JACK FOX AND GABRIEL Aird, both covered in sheets, were laid out on tables in the dead house. Several incense sticks were scattered around the room in a feeble attempt to mask the putrid smell. Inspector Macleod and PC Urquhart watched as Liz and Amulya examined Aird’s neck. Liz made a quick sketch of the wound. She showed the sketch to the Inspector.

“The initial cut was made from left to right therefore it was most likely made with a right-handed person,” stated Liz.

“Hector is left handed! Inspector Macleod will you release Hector now?” asked Amulya.

The Inspector rubbed his beard. “Hold on! If the killer grabbed his victim from behind and slashed the front of the throat wouldn’t it be the other way round?”

Liz shook her head. “Decapitation would be much easier and quicker to do from the front.”

She went over to a wooden bench where the Burry Man’s suit was laid out. She beckoned to the Inspector. “Look at this!” She pointed to an area of the suit where the burrs had been partly plucked off and a bloody mark was visible. “I think that this mark is the palm of the right hand where the body was held firmly during the cutting between vertebrae.”

Amulya said, “Please let him go sir.”

The Inspector sighed and said, “Alright. Urquhart, release the prisoner.”

Amulya beamed and said, “Thank you.” She turned and followed PC Urquhart out of the room.
